      Heavy Vehicle Licence Category

      Heavy Vehicle Licence Category

There are 5 different classes of a heavy vehicle licence. Each class has minimum requirements you must meet to upgrade your licence to the next class. These requirements vary depending on the licence class.

For example, if you are upgrading to a Multi Combination (MC) licence, you must have held a Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) licence for at least 1 year.

LR – Light Rigid – small buses or trucks.

MR – Medium Rigid – medium rigid trucks or buses.

HR – Heavy Rigid – heavy rigid trucks or buses (including articulated buses).

HC – Heavy Combination – heavy articulated vehicles.

MC – Multi Combination – B-doubles, prime mover, low loader dolly and low loader combinations, road trains.

You can also drive vehicles covered by a lighter licence class (all those that are above your licence class in this list). This does not include motorcycles.

B Condition Removal – Remove the ‘B’ condition from your heavy vehicle licence.

Scaffolding work is undertaken in construction and other industries where temporary structures are erected, altered and dismantled.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

This unit has a pre-requisite requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLSF3001 Licence to erect alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level or holding a valid licence for intermediate scaffolding.

Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.
