TLI31222 – Cert III in Driving Operations
The Certificate III in Driving Operations qualification is for those looking to take on driving operation job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry. The course is designed to educate students on the aspects of driving roles including legal responsibilities and obligations, principles of safe loading and securing cargo, industry-standards, accident and emergency procedures required of drivers, so they can have fulfil safe and confident driving career. Successful achievement of the licensing units within the qualification will enable students to upgrade to a heavy vehicle licence or higher-class licence, in line with NSW licensing and regulatory requirements.
Design by industry leaders, the qualification covers an extensive range of elements to ensure drivers can confidently operate a heavy vehicle in all situations and environments including urban, regional, and long-haul routes.
The Certificate III in Driving Operations provides an exceptional opportunity for participants to upgrade their knowledge and skills, and to gain a nationally recognised qualification for the skills they currently have. It also allows employers to have their staff trained in the latest requirements, without the paperwork and hassles.
The Certificate III in Driving Operations will increase skills in the areas of:
- Fatigue management strategies
- Load restraint
- Load and unload goods and cargo
- Carry out vehicle inspection
- Manual handling methods
- Customer relations
- Manifest documents
A total of 15 units of competency comprising:
- 5 core units listed below, plus
- 1 driver awareness elective unit from the driver awareness elective units listed below, plus
- 9 general elective units.
Up to 3 of the elective units may be selected from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package or accredited course. The elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification.
Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.

Pre-requisites / entry conditions – Over 18 years old, have held C class license or higher
- All students must pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN)
